Kangan, Oct 26 (KNO): Local cricket players from Bella Wussan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district here have demanded the establishment of a dedicated cricket ground, citing the lack of suitable facilities for the sport. The call for action comes amid a growing interest in cricket among the youth of the area. “We don't have any specific locations where we can play," a local player told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). “Having a dedicated cricket ground will make a huge difference for us.” Amir Khan, a local cricketer, expressed his excitement, stating, "A proper ground will give our young talents the chance to train and compete, and it will bring the community together." Another player, Reyaz Khan, added, "Without a designated space, it’s hard to develop our skills. We need a ground where we can practice regularly and host matches." "Cricket is more than just a game for us; it's a way to build friendships and discipline," said Ashiq Hussain Khan, a youth player. "This ground will help us develop our skills and nurture a love for the sport." The local civil society has also urged authorities to act on this pressing issue. "Investing in sports is investing in our youth," a representative said. "This cricket ground will not only provide a space for play but also foster a sense of community pride." Residents are rallying behind the initiative, hoping for a positive change in Bella Wussan’s sporting landscape—(KNO)
